From the Desk of the District Lay Speaker

He would like to pass this on to you.

Re: Announcing “Lay Speakers Preach,” Combination Online and Face-to-Face (FTF) hosted by the Mark Twain District. Certification Credit provided. Register by 8/28/2010. Please register early. Spaces are limited.

The Mark Twain District is seeking Lay Speakers to participate in a fresh concept in Advanced Lay Speaking courses. We’ve designed the first three sessions to be done online, mostly at your pace; and the last three sessions, including delivery of your prepared sermon, in a face-to-face setting led by your district or conference instructor.

Previous courses conducted this way have received very favorable comments. The format allows additional preparation and learning time, and avoids multiple weekends with travel and other conflicts. The District Face-to- Face (FTF) class will be held 11/6/2010 at Monroe City United Methodist Church, 218 Catherine Monroe City, MO 63456. You must attend the FTF session to complete the course.

Certification credit will be provided for the course. Cost will be $25.00 including the text. The meal at your FTF session is included. Send $25.00 to Tom Bannon, 1302 S Spring St Palmyra, MO. 63461. Following Registration, you will be invited to register at http://moumethodist.org/moodle/lspreach/ where the online portion of the classes will be conducted. You will also receive via mail, “Go Preach” by John P. Gilbert, required reading for the course. (The sooner you register the sooner you will receive your course material.)
